About the roles:

Instructor

The Instructor leads and delivers the mountain bike skills instruction services in accordance with their training and our procedures including:

  • Supervision of any assistant/s contracted separately to assist in delivering the services.

  • Using materials provided, determine the structure and approach for each lesson.

  • Communicate regularly with Rideo including an update after each lesson via email or text.

  • Review emails from Shape & Ride promptly to ensure accurate and effective communication is maintained.

  • Communicating with parents/caretakers before/after lessons to build positive relationships and to ensure any issues have been addressed such as de-brief parents on any injuries sustained during a lesson etc.

  • Check each participants bike and gear. Make changes if required for safety and advise parents of any changes made or changes the parents need to make.

  • Manage risk in accordance with the Risk Management procedures (provided).

  • Check the weather conditions and fire alerts using Tas Fire no less than 24 hours prior to the lesson and raise any concerns with the Rideo.

  • Respond to queries about Rideo where possible and refer any matters which fall outside the scope of response to Rideo.

Assistant

The Assistant’s role is to assist the Instructor with delivering services including:

  • Arrive for each lesson promptly and no less than 15 minutes early to help the Instructor prepare and have a chat about the lesson plan.

  • Undertake actions as directed by the Instructor which may include setting up cones, keeping head counts, checking trail conditions, helping with skills demonstrations and following the group from the back.

  • Assist with participant roll call, bike checks, greeting and welcoming participants including parents and children.

  • Respond to queries from parents or the public generally about the business and refer any matters unable to be answered to Rideo.

  • Check emails and texts regularly and communicate promptly.

  • Provide first aid.

  • Take photos and videos using high quality mobile phone, GoPro or other camera and send to Rideo.

  • Always be positive, stoked and provide feedback to participants to boost confidence.

Photographers

We are also constantly on the look out for photographers and/or videographers to capture photos, help film and create videos and other media. If this is you and your passionate for mountain biking please register your interest using the form below.

 
 

 

Work Requirements

Instructors:

  • Aged 18 or older.

  • Level 0 Mountain Bike Skills Instructor Accreditation, or equivalent.

  • Senior first aid qualification.

  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration in Tasmania.

  • Personal accident and public liability insurance (member with Cycling Australia for example).

  • Australian Business Number (ABN) or Statement by a Supplier (SBAS).

Assistants:

  • Aged 16 or older.

  • Senior first aid qualification.

  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration in Tasmania.

  • Personal accident and public liability insurance (member with Cycling Australia for example).

  • Australian Business Number (ABN) or Statement by a Supplier (SBAS).
