Fundamentals 101 (Short Course)

Recommended: Levels 1-2

A great course for beginner mountain bikers!

We will focus on body position, braking, gears, cornering and terrain awareness. The purpose of this course is for you to feel more stable, balanced and flowing when you are riding up and down the trails! We will help you understand ‘why’ we do these techniques and not just show you so you can build proper connection to your learning and grow your skills.

You will learn how to read the trails, pick your lines, apply techniques and smooth out rocky/rooty trail.  We give you tools to apply to the trail to feel more confident and reduce risk and formulas to calculate whether you should ride something or not.

Tech 101 (Lesson)

Recommended: Levels 2-3 (unless stated otherwise)

Time to get those basic skills and turn up the heat!

This lesson helps you improve and build confidence within a specific area of riding such as technical terrain i.e. rocks, roots, steeps and big berms and other technical features. Depending on the trail you may also delve into drops and jumps skills.

You will be riding blue (intermediate) and sometimes black (advanced) trails or features!

Improver (Short Course)

Recommended: Levels 2-3 (unless stated otherwise)

This course covers cornering, technical sections, drops and umps and is for riders ready to progress!

Great for those that have been riding for a while and need to refine technique and dial in skills or those that have completed our fundamentals lessons or course and ready for that next step!

You begin with cornering skills such as line choice, scanning (sometimes also angulation) as well as your technical climbing and descending skills. Later in the course you will work on your drops/jumps skills to refine and progress on to bigger features.

Cornering 101 Lesson

Recommended: Level 2-3

Scared of steep berms? Feel like crap in corners? Don’t feel the flow yet? Okay this is for you!!! We will re-cap body position and braking to ensure correct form and understanding. We will practise and apply to corners and include line choice and trail scanning techniques. Afterwards we will learn and apply more advanced techniques such as angulation.

After this lesson you will have tools to apply to the trail and feel more confident when riding green-blue trails and taking corners including steep berms.

Drops/Jumps 101 Lesson

Check the specific lesson for recommended level

Focusing on pressure control - the what, why and how of how to use your body to load the bike correctly for front wheel lifts, manuals and bunny hops and apply these techniques to the trail and features such as drops and jumps.

For those that are more experienced, you will be able to check-in to your technique and improve from inwards to outwards, tweaking small parts to produce an overall more refined product with homework going forward.

The goals of these lessons/courses is for participants to leave with tools to apply to the trail and features and applying specific techniques for improved results for better progression going forward.
